چکیده
The use of residual gases from steel production processes as fuel for treatment furnaces has attracted great interest a method reducing fossil consumption and the footprint. However, these often have low calorific value, direct substitution can lead to temperatures or combustion instability issues. CFD simulations help producers forecast results before real testing implementation. In this study, model an industrial experimental furnace in sector is developed validated. are calculated using combustion, radiation, heat transfer models included software Ansys Fluent. validation simulated performed with data acquired tests under same conditions at three air-to-fuel equivalence ratios, which vary excess 0% 5% oxygen outlet. adjusted results, capturing trends measured physical variables pollutant concentrations. case temperature, differences between values 0.03% 6.9. Based on simulation blast gas produces inside chamber 1004 °C 1075 high stream velocities because flow needed keep power constant. Flames exhibit straight movements since flows absorb effect swirling flames. addition natural increases temperature up 1211 reduces length Finally, 1298 shorter flames reached enriched oxygen, but case, NOx emissions need be controlled.

An Embedded Boundary Method for the Modeling of Unsteady Combustion in an Industrial Gas-Filled Furnace
A new methodology for the modeling of unsteady, nonpremixed, axisymmetric reacting ow in industrial furnaces is presented. The method is an extension of previous work by the authors to complex geometries, multistep kinetics mechanisms, and realistic properties, especially thermochemical data. The walls of the furnace are represented as an embedded boundary in a uniform, rectangular grid. The gr...

Blast furnace gas is the byproduct of smelting steel production process, and is the important secondary energy source. It is can be used as fuel for engines to generate electricity for most middle and small steel enterprises. In order to understand the combustion mechanism and provide the basis for the design of blast furnace gas engine, premixed laminar combustion experiments of the blast furna...
متن کاملMultivariate process monitoring of an experimental blast furnace
Process monitoring by use of multivariate projection methods has received increasing attention as it can reduce the monitoring problem for richly instrumented industrial processes with many correlated variables. This article discusses the monitoring and control of a continuously operating experimental blast furnace (EBF). A case study outlines the need for monitoring and control of the EBF and ...

The objective of this study was to develop an integrated simulation model of an automatic blast furnace in a full-scale steelmaking factory. The integrated simulation model introduces a set of optimizing alternatives through sensitivity analysis. The simulation model is built by considering all major and detailed operations and interacting systems of the blast furnace workshop. The workshop is ...
متن کاملCFD Modeling of Grate Furnace Designs for Municipal Solid Waste Combustion
The average amount of municipal solid waste (MSW) generated in Malaysia is 0.5–0.8 kg/person/day and has increased to 1.7 kg/person/day in major cities. As rapid development continues, so does the amount of MSW and thus a lack of space for new landfills. Thus a better way of disposing MSW would be to incinerate. The basic design requirements of high-performance incinerators are the 3Ts (time, t...
